Spider-Man Demul 0.7 alpha "please insert a normal game controller"

Problem:

Spider-Man for Dreamcast on Demul 0.7 alpha will accept inputs at menus, but not in-game.

How to reproduce:

1. start Spider-Man for Dreamcast on Demul 0.7
2. at "start menu" game requests player to "PLEASE INSERT A NORMAL CONTROLLER"
3. game continues to accept input, press Start to continue
4. enter game menu
5. select "NEW GAME", select difficulty mode
6. game plays cutscene, press start to skip
7. reaches in-game section, lists "PAUSED, PLEASE INSERT A NORMAL CONTROLLER"
8. no input is registered

More details:

1. You can go to Demul menu --> Config --> Maple Device Manager --> Port A
2. Change Port A to "NONE"
3. game screen then says "PAUSED, A CONTROLLER HAS BEEN REMOVED OR A VMU IS BEING DETECTED"
4. Changing Port A back to "Controller" returns prompt back to "PAUSED, PLEASE INSERT A NORMAL CONTROLLER"

Other:

This game runs on NullDC without this prompt, though some graphics are more glitchy such as the player shadow effects.

Thanks for any help with this issue :D

----------------------------------

On further inspection, I have "solved" (but not quite :D) the problem myself.

At least the game works on Demul 0.582, enjoy :)

Also works on NullDC, but with less accurate graphics :)

Would be great to have it working in Demul 0.7 alpha as well :)

-----------------------------------

OK there is definitely a regression here on 0.7 alpha, because Daytona USA for Dreamcast in Demul 0.7 alpha also has the same problem.

It think there is not controller attached and gives a similar warning. The game works great in Demul 0.582 though.

half diagonal artifacts

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere before, but I can't seem to understand why some games that start-up have a logo of half diagonal artifact (black and white diagonal) which makes the games themselves unplayable. I didnt have this problem before, and I'm using Nvidia GTX (no sli) with i7 3770K setup. Thanks in advance!

p.s. I tried to post a picture of it via postimg, but it says it wont let me paste url here =(

Dynamite Cop broken on 0.7 (lose input after game start)

Gone through my library on 0.7 and everything is great, but encountered a strange problem on Dynamite cop. Basically, input is not recognized after starting the game, specifically on the memory card selector screen. Input works fine on DC logo and all other DC games, but nothing here. It's not frozen and there is animation playing.

If I simply copy back the old (0.582) exe/plugins, it works fine. It's definitely something weird on the new version.

- - - Updated - - -

Crazily, it wound up being an issue with having the triggers mapped to my triggers on my Xbone controller. If I simply change them to a bumper/disabled, selection works just fine. Weird, weird bug.

PCSP downloads?

I have been looking around for PCSP source downloads. It would seem the authors used file sharing sites exclusively (geneous) and those have mostly been shut down, or the file has been deleted from the site. It would seem silly if they didn't have ANY actual source archive out their.
Other than it might have been a hoax (not the first?), anyone know if an actual set of the source exists somewhere?

I was hoping SOME source was out there (LOL), I noticed the author links to PSPE4ALL which has no source (or binary) available either. Hmmm anhow.

Hi everyone, I'm having issues trying to run this game. I've got all the bios files downloaded, the game rom everything, and when I try and fire the game up in Hikaru, I get a message saying "unable to find 315-6146.ic45 in romset 'mie'" But I have that very file in the roms folder ready to go. Is there something else I'm lacking or what do I need to do to try and make it work? Any questions, comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much.

RetroArch v1.2.2 released!

$
0
0
RetroArch v1.2.2 is released. RetroArch is a multi-system emulator for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and *BSD. It is formerly known as SSNES. Its design and background is quite different than most other emulators as RetroArch does not implement an emulation core itself. RetroArch talks to libretro, a generic emulator core API. This means that RetroArch is core agnostic, and it does not care which emulator core is running.

Currently there are libretro implementations for systems such as SNES, NES, GBA, GB/GBC, Genesis, and even arcade games (Final Burn Alpha).

libretro isn't only usable for emulators. A preliminary port of an open source reimplementation of Cave Story has been ported to libretro as well.

RetroArch believes in modularity. The application itself is a command-line driven application suitable for HTPC and/or headless use. There also exists a GUI frontend for RetroArch, supporting every single config option available in RetroArch.

RetroArch v1.2 R2 Changelog:

Quote:

– OSX version released!
– PSP version released!
– (OSX 10.6 32-bit version) All cores that the 32bit version supports
are currently included into the ZIP itself because our buildbot does not
yet serve up 32bit cores for OSX yet. Apologies for this, we’re trying
to come up with a solution.
– (OSX/iOS in general) The guy who did our buildbot nightlies for
OSX/iOS is currently MIA. We will have to come up with a new solution
fast for this. Due to this you might experience some outdated cores
right now for these platforms.
– (Android) Fixed XX/XXXHDPI font issues with GLUI (was leading to corrupted fonts)
– Initial Spanish translation.
– Add advanced help system.
– (Android) Add Nvidia Shield Portable hack – back button should bring up menu properly now.
– Fixed some issues with hotkeys.
– When ‘Hide In Menu’ is enabled, overlays should reappear now when we select ‘Resume Content’, ‘Load State’, or ‘Save State’.
– (Wii) Fix FBA CPS1/CPS2 cores.
– (GLUI) Better ticker speed.
– (GLUI) Labels should use more screen estate when available.

Yape/SDL 0.58.1 is released. Yape is the best emulator of Commodore microcomputer family running on Windows and Unix. The emulator faithfully imitates the C-264 (alias Commodore Plus/4) model.

Yape/SDL 0.58.1 changelog:

Quote:

Yet another release for the SDL version: 0.58.1 is out with binaries for both Debian/Ubuntu and Windows. The version number indicates the approximate compatibility equivalent of the Windows port. It marks the backport of real 1541 drive emulation as well. By now the SDL port is perfectly usable for almost all games and could be your best choice at this stage for long retrogaming sessions with a gamepad controller in front of a big screen.

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium Compaq Laptop, and when I launch the emulator, it doesnt work. So I restart the emulator, still doesn't work. Controller Plugged in is checked, so I go to Devices and Printers, and when I go to calibration, it wants me to move the Z axis all the way up, but that doesnt work with the Control Stick, and no other buttons work either. Any Help?

EDIT: Dont bother replying, it worked after restarting my computer.

Demul .7 exit question

Hey Metallic. Thank you bro for bringing this app back to life. I saw the guy in the other thread get smart with you when you were responding to him. Crazy!

Anyway I felt like this has been asked before but I didn't understand the answer. I know there is no button like escape or alt-f4 that will close Demul. I got Demul (airline pilots TY TY TY!) but as you can imagine I don't have a way of closing the program since I got a bunch of joysticks and buttons but no keyboard. It's an arcade cabinet so it's not supposed to have a kb. So with all that babbling in mind, will there ever be a keyboard command programmed in Demul so we can close it that way instead of (alt-enter to minimize and then red x).

Just asking bro. I'm already grateful at being able to play my pilot and star wars game.

Is there a way to enable a gamepad, or joystick, to work for the 2nd player side? I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure the 2nd side. I've tried configuring it through config->controls->joy2(arcade) but no responses.

The 1st is always set to mouse which is fine. But I want co-op play and if this has already been answered elsewhere I apologize in advance, thank you!

btw, this is for Naomi/Naomi 2 arcade hotd2

Converting Dreamcast Game Dumps to nullDC/Demul Compatible CDI Format

$

Hi gang!

Emulation newbie here - hello! I've been wanting to add a Dreamcast games library to my arcade cabinet for a long time, and after recently managing to purchase a broadband adapter from eBay, it seems my dream (apologies for the pun - couldn't resist!) is coming to life.

I've successfully dumped virtually all of my legally owned Dreamcast games (as well as my own Dreamcast bios). I'm really happy that it was easier than expected, and I can now play them on nullDC and Demul without issue by loading the disc.gdi file that my Dreamcast dumps produced. Hurrah!

The is one pretty huge problem, however: They're all in a format which closely resembles something like this:

  • track01.bin
  • track02.raw
  • track03.bin
  • disc.gdi

My arcade cabinet set-up uses a system where all game dumps are stored in the same folder (which I'm happy to stick with and would rather not change), and because all dumps use a virtually identical naming structure, it's impossible to store all dumps in one folder without them overwriting each other. Ideally, what I would love is to have them compressed into a single file format (7zip format would be an absolute last resort as it takes a while for my arcade software to extract the contents each time, and this is more for my son than me) such as cdi, and also renamed to reflect the game title, ie: Crazy Taxi 2.cdi for example.

I've scoured every article and resource that Google has thrown up, but I'm still no closer. My best lead so far has been to use BootDreams, and it seemed promising at first, but the cdi files it generates do not seem to get past the Sega logo screen for either nullDC or Demul. I'm at my wit's end. My son loves it when I'm able to add new games to the arcade cabinet, and he's a huge fan of Sega's classic games, so it would be great to be able to get all this set up for him (and me, too, of course!)

tl;dr: Need to convert my Dreamcast game dumps to nullDC/Demul compatible cdi format.

Anywho, that's all! Hope you guys can help point me in the right direction. I'm certain that there's an easy solution that I'm missing!

Cheers for any and all help! :)
